Boy accused of trying to torch church
MARIETTA, Ga., Aug. 30 (UPI) -- A disgruntled 9-year-old Bible school
student is accused of attempting to burn down his Marietta, Ga., church.
The Marietta Times reported Monday that after the child was asked to leave
the Open Door Baptist Church Sunday, he allegedly returned later with a
five-gallon can of gasoline.
"He poured a ring of gasoline around the church," Police Capt. Jeff Waite
said. "It appears he was planning to burn the church down."
Someone at the church saw the boy with the gasoline can and notified the
police, Waite said.
