    Time Lapse video capture software - besides snagit

    Ok before I go into the stupid anal leakage ass sucking drama.
    What is the best video software trial or freeware that can do the following.
    1. take a snap shot or record any frames per minute I set, and convert into a video file. (snag it saves to a not so small avi.)
    2. Maximize the video compression to save on drive space, yet produce the best clarity images from a security camera.
    3. Will operate on winxp, without internet access. This is to save locally.

    Now snag it offers all of these features yet I have to run it through a piece of crap video in viewer. Would like better compression without the loss. I do suppose a much better video player would work.

    My capture card is an osprey and works great. Now I just need a better recording option or player.

                      Yeah, I own it. The free version stamps their logo on it but I do not recall if it does anything else.

                          Well damn if I had a phone (lines cut) I would get more info.

                                  Does snag it record audio as well?

                                  Let me clarify..I'm trying to catch something while working on the puter and want to send the file to someone...will it record audio if I hook up a mic?

                                      You can do time lapse to tape if your video camera has interval recording. a few sony cameras have this option... just something to consider.

                                                  I need to work with the security cameras I have now. (stupid weather resistant outdoor auto nightvision ball cams).
                                                  Assuming I did have funds right now. I do not think wallgreens will be stocked with sony cameras that have interval recording.

                                                  Not trying to come off as a total bitch. This is a right now pissed off time and I need to work with what I have on hand.

                                                              Enlightenment into the situation.

                                                              Can not currently find my houseguest's vandalism thread from about 7 days ago.

                                                              Needless to say they struck again at 6:11am this morning.
                                                              They decided to cut every outside phone wire in multiple places.
                                                              Severe my cable line in multiple places.
                                                              Cut every extension cord they could find or see, even the one we have tied up to personally cut pieces off of for our own use.
                                                              Cut a numerous amount of wires in my rental next to me that we are "renovating".
                                                              Cut the power cable to the table saw.
                                                              Take every other power tool they could carry.
                                                              Stole some other misc. stupid shit.

                                                                  Not sure if it helps your situation, but I think I saw a setting the other day on a Sony VX2000 that does time lapse. Like a frame every 30 seconds, or even less. Not sure if that helps or not.
