Cops usually ask "Do you know how fast you were going?"
Always say "Yes, I was going (whatever the speed limit is)"
Unless they hit you with a radar gun they're just estimating.
When you say "I don't know", they can put anything down on the ticket they like. When you give them a firm answer, they know that you'll probably try to fight it and will most likely let you off with a "slow it down" warning.
It's gotten me out of crazy speeding tickets, I've only gotten 1 ticket in 21 years of driving, and I have a very fast car.Comment

Went through one of those ex-coppers services. Cop was radar trapping westbound traffic and I was speeding eastbound. Basically the guy proved to the court the radar couldn't have got an accurate reading of my car and one other car was speeding and he should have pulled us both over, not just me.Originally posted by Manowar
