companies cant fire a fucking spanish person?!?

at work they have issued me an assistant who is spanish, she has been with the company for near 2yrs now.

she BARELY speaks english, the accent is just too heavy ...

when she writes english sentances they dont make any sense.

she has a FUCKED UP attitude when it comes to work, she has no eagerness to move up, or even help for that matter.

Ok so she has a thick accent and can barely write english, so you think she was born in PR? NOPE!! She was born right here in the bronx !!!!

How the fuck did she get through life without learning english?

Anyhow, it is her job to interact with these clients of mine either by fax, email, or phone.

She is not capable of doing her job, yet they will not fire her for some reason.

you cannot fire her for BEING spanish, but for christ sakes she doesnt know enlish!! How can she perform her job?!

are they scared?!? Just tell her to learn fucking english or get out!

PS, not a single one of my clients is spanish so that whole "maybe they want bilingual employees" shit doesnt apply!

i brought in a dictionary and said we will do 1 word a day, and use it in 3 sentances, and that i would help her.

she got a fucking attitude and bitched for a few days about how i dont "appreciate her" and shit

appreciate her? Id like to take a PR flag and strangle her with it!! She makes my fucking job so damned hard because she isnt capable of picking up her end ....

You have two things against you on this one.

She is latin, ( a minority ) and she is also female. ( another minority ) at least in some places she will be a minority. Did the company get nailed for bad hiring practices? If you, get ready, because she will be taking your job soon, and you will the the one looking.

i think they did it because im one of the few who can handle my job basically without an assistant.

i mean it is very tough and shouldnt be done, but i do what it takes to get my numbers ... sometimes working until 10pm !

I think if they gave her to another person it would affect the numbers too much, and since they cant (or dont want to?) fire her dumb ass, i get stuck with her.

The Spanish are all grouped together in this country. True Spaniards do not act like the "spanish" we are stuck with in my area.

At least in my area, the Puerto Ricans are the low of the low. The Mexicans here work all week and stay drunk and to themselves all weekend. The Puerto Ricans work when they have to, are ignorant to the customers, and have absolutely no respect for others or this country.

They do not try to learn "our" language and expect us to learn theirs.

Obviously this country was built on immigrants, but this is the first time I believe in "our" history that a group has come here and expect "us" to change for them instead of "they" adapting to the ways of this country. Until they understand that they will get no respect, from me atleast.

Just got back from the States and was amazed at the number of people who could not speak English. Waiters, gas attendants and even people serving in shops at Dulles airport with little command of the language.

In 50 years time US citizens will have to speak Spanish to get by. Seems they are keener to teach those who speak English as their first language Spanish, than teaching Spanish speakers English.

Guess they want to keep the country well stocked with manual labour.

If you interviewed and hired a person for a salaried position, and during the interview didn't notice the person was speaking some other language, it could be risky firing them for not speaking English. In some states you can fire people for no reason, but you have to not give a reason...you could still get in some shit if you said why you were firing them.

explain how her lack of the english language is hurting your productivity. explain how you have absolutely no bilingual clients and your need for a bilingual assistant is not warranted.

make sure you are diplomatic with this for office politics will take over. in addition, send a copy of this letter registered mail to your lawyer (if you dont have one, get one!). you may want to consult with this person first.

tell the personnel dept that you feel with her as your assistant, your productivity will be hindered greatly and could cost you your position with the company because of lost clients.

as someone else said here, it sounds like someone may have it in for you and by doing this (especially sending this registered mail), you will be protecting yourself in the long run. if you have pissed someone off, they are going for you in a very cunning way.

If there's one thing I've learned, these people do not have any social or cultural meaning of "work ethic" or "work product." To them, it's "the check" that matters. Nothing more, nothing less. They also do not have any idea of "common courtesy", "common decency" or "common sense."

Remember. MEXICO is spelled with M-E. That's their mindset; Me first, Me only. And the concept of "rules?" They apply to YOU. Not to ME.

If you lived here, you'd surely understand.

As for the "assistant," I'd say it's time to set about a plan to make her "go away." If you have a good, close customer that you can trust, have them have a phone problem with her and then report the complaint up the ladder. Remember, it's the "money" that people listen to, not the sales staff. I've used it before and found it a good concept.
