I agree with Spunky, and lace. Depends. I've wondered it myself at times. You have some idiots who sign up, and immediately cancel before they've even logged in once, so they apparently do not forget to cancel, and get the cheaper rate.
Then I have a godo number of rebills that have been members for YEARS and are still under grandfathered rates. I have a core group who come back every 2-3 months. I recognize the names, handles, e-mails when they come in on confirmation e-mails. So it's a mix.
One some of the site's less than a year old, they seem to stay 1-2 months, and come back later. On sites up for years, it takes them a few months apparently to get through everything. Then they cancel, and come back in 3-6 months. Best group is therebills, who pay da bills. They apparently like the site, their grandfathered rates, your content, or whatever the case. Sticking around for years. Then you have the idiots who sign up, cancel, then sign in. You see them maybe once a year.
This applies to paysites, and my expereince. I am not sure what the industry averages are, but I'd be interested in knowing as well.
