I have some experience with stolen cars.
The one I stole when I was 16 had a stolen pistol hidden under the back seat. When I got caught, the police found the gun, ran the serial, called the owner of the car and asked him if the stolen pistol was his.
Doh!
Apparently it wasn't, so I got charged with that too. It sucked because the keys were in the car, so actually taking the car was only a joyriding infraction. The concealed weapon was a class B misdemeanor. And, of course, when plea bargain time came they dropped the joyriding infraction and made me plead to the concealed weapons charge.
Luckily I was a minor. No jail, just community service and a large fine. Got the records expunged when I turned 18.
