Pretty much everything surrounding christmas is of pagan derivation... the first clue might be the christmas tree. How many pine trees are in israel?

Yule logs, mistletoe, christmas trees, hollowe'en (samhain), easter (astara), etc etc... the early christians were pretty flexible in what they'd accept so long as they could get new peeps into the fold. Pity that flexibility all too quickly faltered into dogma and the 'infalliability of the vatican'.
