I figure it's more interesting if this wicca stuff is a modern creation. If you think of it as an "old religion" resurrected, then basically your underlying storyline is that cheesy old "back to the roots", the exact same thing that the christians are doing, but with their god replaced by an earth goddess.
But, if it's a modern creation, then it's an effort to make religion conscious, something done intentionally.
Then it becomes not some romanticized and ficticious "first religion", but a type of "final religion".
In general, the pagans are way more fun than the christians, no doubt about that.
