Its quite possible...I have setup in my dedicated servers a firewall so all mails sent to "random generated mails" are logged into a report...
plus you can setup your servers so mails sent to addresses that dont existed beeing forwarded to a main mail account (ie. if you use several aliases for different purposes but want all the mail coming at you without setting up different forwarders for each..)
