Good luck, hit me up if you got any questions. We've learned over the years and I'm happy to say we've been algae free for 2 years now. Paid a service the second year and had as many problems as doing it ourselves the first year. My wife and I then went to a poolschool offered by one of are local pool and spa shops and as silly as it sounds, was where we learned everything. I guess because it was offered by professionals from the area, the info we were getting on the internet etc, wasn't helping much. The pool store is a chain, kinda big here in the south. If you have a Watson's definitely check it out. The school is a few hours, free and if you attend you get a lifetime 10% discount on anything you buy from them and you'll learn everything you need to know for your particular area.
