I'm thinking about taking mail orders for my site since I see others doing it. But I wanted to know if it's worth it. Do people REALLY bother to send in money orders to get access to a site a week later?
Do people ACTUALLY join with a Money Order?

If they don't have a credit card, etc... I don't see why they wouldn't. If you don't get the money order, they don't get access...that simple. I use to own a cam site and people would send money orders in to buy minutes with the girls. More payment options is never bad IMO... except 900 billing... I have had nothing but headaches with that.icq 1904905Comment

A very good friend of mine has a rather large amateur type site, and she says she gets and unbelievable amount of cash and money order payments in the mail. Several a day. So yes, people do mail in payments
Many do so because they don't have a checking account or credit card and a surprising number do so for privacy (wives and such.)Last edited by tootie; 08-23-2004, 04:02 PM.Comment

yup we get them ALLLL of the time... I think they don't want their wife to catch them.Comment

We get several every week. Also many people use this method to order videos too.
I'd estimate that we do $4-$5k/year in cash/money order sales.Comment

we get lots of requests for this, about 1/day (even though it's never been mentioned anywhere on a join page). i considered setting something up, but the hassle was never really worth it.
so i never bothered. would also have to get some sort of id photocopy. and i could just imagine all the 'lost in the mail' bullshit this would create.Last edited by quiet; 08-23-2004, 04:52 PM.we'll miss you our friend. RIPComment

good point... I never ran into "lost in the mail" but I also included I was not responsible for lost mail. Suggested they send registered, etc if they were worried.Originally posted by quiet

We used to take money orders - even cash - in the mail with never any problems.
We asked for a photocopy of their licence with the address blanked out and told them to sign an accompanying letter so that we could compare signatures.
It worked fine for us and we had quite a few of those guys stay with us right to the time we closed the site.Left intentionally blank ... just like my brainComment

Ummm. . . no fees taken out . . . it's like cash . . . how is that a bad thing?Originally posted by Brinner
I wouldn't even fuck with money orders as a payment method. The time it would take and the average conversion of people buying with M/O would not be worth it.
Anyway, if a money order is a hassle in someone's opinion to accept, just charge more for those memberships, or make them only available for 6 month or 1 year memberships that cost more.
I love money orders!!!!
