Any interest in promoting chat line.

A good friend of mine started a chat line (phone sex line) about 1 year ago. She, along with 2 of her employees were laid off from the company I work for, due to corporate restructuring, and wanted to try something new. (She was the V.P. of Finance for the co., and the other 2 are both CMA's, so they have strong business skills).

They have been advertising their chat line in local newspapers and national Arts & Entertainment guides, and have doing quite well. Last night, I let the cat out of the bag that I was also involved in this industry, so they thought there might be an opportunity to expand their business.

First thing...this chat line is NOT a dialer, per se. The largest and first thing you see on their site or when you call the phone line is the per minute charges and the minimum charge. They and I have no interest in "fooling" the customer. In fact, the customer first calls an 800 number, where a pre-recorded announcement goes over the charges. If the charges are acceptable, then the customer pushes the # key to accept...and only then is the call transferred to the 1-900 #. If he/she hangs up before pressing #, there are ZERO charges.

Second, any potential affiliate would be required to fax a copy of their drivers license before being assigned an affiliate account. If you are old enough to sign-up, then this should not be an issue. We will not support underage webmasters.

Any interest? Reasonable payout per minute?

One thing I forgot...there would be "minutes free" promos, which would require the caller to enter in a promo # (your affiliate number) to receive the free minutes. This is how this call and all future calls from this caller would be linked to your account.

I for one, when I was in my 20's and early 30's used to call the local chat lines (dating lines/sex lines) when I was bored and wanted to meet someone new. Hell, I dated one of the girls for 2 years and another for 6 months. And, because I knew the charges up front, and could purchase minutes packages, I NEVER felt that I had been in any way ripped off.

P.S. I should mention that this program could be months down the road...I'm just interested in feed back right now.

            Hmmm might be interested.

Obviously the payout woul be a fair percentage after costs etc. And promo's would still pay out at the sponsors cost to affiliates usually.

Not spam...an affiliate program isn't even close to ready to be launched..as I said, it could be months or never... and if you didn't want to send your drivers license...no problem...keeps the saturation point down for the webmasters that would. Our industry can be run with the same business ethics as mainstream business...so, by making the affiliates accountable...I believe that a superior product will be delivered and a first-class reputation for the company can be maintained.

And, call this spam if you want...or even ass kissing...but this is why I use AmateurPages as one of my 5 top affiliate programs. They deliver a quality product with clear and honest pricing. I can feel good about the money I earn from AP.

Sounds like a few penniless dotcommers without a business plan have heard there is money in adult sites, well the truth is there isn't.

Most the people round here make the real cash with recipe sites, online pet food supply stores etc.

My advice is to tell them that in this case, sex does NOT pay.

It's illegal to transfer an 800 number call to a 900 number.

Unless it's just a recording telling them to dial a 900 number.

Also you'll be seeing dialers showing the price in large font now anyways.

Candid...did you not read the part that they are first informed that they are transferring to a toll-line and if they chose to disconnect, then there is absolutely NO charge. This is not only LEGAL, but ethical. The current announcement on their system goes like this..." By pressing # you will be transferred to a toll line...charges of $$$ per minute will begin immediately...if you do not wish to proceed, please hang-up now." And, as I have said to you personally before...I do not like dialers...there always seems to be an intent to defraud the customer. For these ladies, bold print is NOT being added as an afterthought or due to legislation...this is the way they have done business since day one...no sneaking around..no tricks...treating people the way they insist on being treated themselves.

And as far as the other "dotcommer comment"...they already have a VERY successful operation...and perhaps you did not see the reference to my own age. I am in my 40's and have a good number of successful years in the dot com arena...both adult and mainstream...currently I am working in my post graduate area - engineering...but I was also Marketing Manager (my first degree - B of Commerce) for one of Real Audio's sound enhancement development partners for a good number of years.

And, yes there is money in adult entertainment. My annual income for the last 2 years from affiliate programs is roughly triple my regular job...and why do I continue to work...because I truly love what I am doing. Sitting in a dark room, in front of my computer day in - day out simply does not appeal to me.

Don't waste your time... there are gonna be those who lightly skim over a post and think they know what was being said, then jump to reply; thinking they are some kind of hero that will save all other readers from ruin..

Then you have those who yell, SPAM simply because someone mentions a website or an idea...

Way too many ignorant fucks who are here for no other reason to think they actually make a difference.. gotta love it!!
