    Forgotten Bands from the 80s

Interesting thread topic and it might give me some ideas for songs to add to my mp3 collection. Bands you would expect noone who didn't live through the 80s to know about, like

    Night Ranger
    Santers
    Y&T
    Loverboy
    Pat Benatar
    The Romantics

Summertime Girls (which was GREAT, BTW)

They were a really good power rock band with some very good musicians that, for whatever reason, never really caught on. Sometimes it makes you wonder when bands like Y&T and Santers don't hit it big and TOTAL CRAP BOY BANDS like the Beastie Boys do.

I have a list of the firsts 70s, possibly the most creative years of the modern music. Most of these bands (and most of the other ones) decline in the middle of this decade to turn into a more commercial and simple model that continue at the 80s with melancolic and disco styles:

                Camel
                Deep Purple
                Dixie Dregs
                Emerson Lake and Palmer
                Focus
                Frank Zappa
                Genesis
                Jethro Tull
                John Lennon
                Morgenstein
                Queen
                Rush
                Supertramp
                Yes
I have a list of 130 more but i prefer to list only the best ones.

The 80's have some very good pieces as the 90s , but i think that if i want to continue being happy with new music i should look for 30 years ago archives.

Some of these bands are still pretty popular today. Also, I think I'd put Purple, ELP, Lennon, Queen, and Tull in the category of 70s bands.

Yes, that's true too. Some of them has been improving their music qualities and with the time and the new multimedia technology their music sounds more "clear".

But unlike now, the artists don't use all their potential and energies in new discs. They know that they still selling and the producers demands new disks. Old stars are very good business for producers and economic stability for artists too.

But in the 70's the music turn into the top of the complexity and variety.

For example, "Close to the edge" from the Close to the edge disc (1972, Yes) it's a very good example of that.

Try to listen to it, it's a long song but a lot of people catalog it as the best and more complex song of the 70's

Correct term for that would be a "One Hitter Quiter"

I cut some parts of the best band i ever listen to it. These parts are all instrumental and full of complex, melody, armony and energy.

They're from 1976 to 1978 from "La Maquina de hacer Pajaros", an Argentinan band. Don't underestimate a spanish band or another langugage music. This, particulary is a very good example of four virtuosos musicans, that if they were born on USA sure that will raise into the top ranks.

Try to listen to it, it's a long song but a lot of people catalog it as the best and more complex song of the 70's

Yes in the 70's was definitely complex and very creative, not to mention their lyrics were somewhat mystique. If you ever get a chance to do mushrooms and listen to Yes I highly recommend it, it will make complete sense.

I saw someone at the Warped Tour the other day with a Bad Engligh shirt on.

I think he might have confused them with Bad Religion was actually played at the show.
