mostly middle class while my dad worked for US Steel, then when Reagan fucked the steelworkers, the town went pretty much bankrupt and my sister and I had to end up being raised by a divorced mother who worked two jobs to make ends meet and a father who could barely afford to take care of himself much less pay very much in the way of child support...
...but I was raised to respect and appreciate I had and make do the best we could. I also learned the importance of family and how strong family ties could get you through tougher times. It also taught me to be frugal with my spending and now at 35 with 4 kids of my own, I am still a tightwad ;-)
