The internet will last longer than any of us here. Even when the Govt launches SecureNET and Nexternet/Internet2, we'll still use domains to navigate. the Internet will evolve, but not die. in 5 years the only domains that may be left to register will be like this:

but in case the domain market dies, be sure to diversify OFFLINE. if you need opportunities/ideas for businesses, drop me a line. It won't be inexpensive ($10k-$150K+), but you have to diversify, just in case. especially if an event similar to 9-Eleven happens again and targets the web, most people willl be lost and have no backup plan and no revenue stream. but I'm not going to discuss all this mumbojumbo and jinx myself. nuff said.Comment

I have no idea, except to scare away competition. still does not work because as low as $10-$60 will buy you in elsewhere. back in the day, I use to call pool and beg them to try "harder" to get a domain and I'd offer to pay $X whether or not someone else bid on it. not sure if they ever did listen to me but I got some "ok" domains thru them.

and you are so right about every domain on the list leading to new ones. also new businesses you never thought about getting into. but sooner or later, if you don't take a break, you zone out because they all start looking the same.
i miss going thru the list, but I do not miss playing catch up if I missed a day. worst feeling in the world is finding a name you wanted to backorder AFTER the 1 or 2 o'clock drop deadline.
