I agree with you that GFY hasn't changed much: after all it's a relative newcomer. But maybe what otherwise makes Quashe right is that in the "good old days" of some of the older boards, the flame wars weren't faked just to raise post counts. People who were there contributing other stuff sometimes went off on each other, so the drama was as real as it can get in cyberspace and often they used enough imagination to be funny too.

Here, the first thing I have enjoyed reading on here in a very long while was Choker's "Ambush". SD's initial post was typical GFY but Choker's replies took the sting out of the questions and sent some clever barbs back. It was a long way off being a classic thread, but it was amusing to see Choker turn the tables so neatly, especially on Mr Kindergarten himself.
