They changed things a few weeks back. Their new release page sucks now. you can still get to the old page here http://www.netflix.com/AllNewRelease...AllNewReleases

If they promoted new releases ahead of time more people would put them in their que, meaning that more people would be disappointed when they didn't get that hot new release the day after it came out (since NF is not going to buy a DVD for EVERYONE). They're just trying to avoid unhappy customers by downplaying upcoming releases. I also suspect that many of the movie boxes that fly by on their home page are titles they have a ton of DVD's on hand and want to move out. A few weeks ago I was scrolling through that main page and ordered The Bourne Supremecy, but what I really wanted was the last one, Bourne Ultimatium (or is that the other way around... why can't they just call those Bourne I, II and III???). Anyhow, I thought is was sneeky that they didn't scroll the Ultimatium on their main new release page. Still, I love NetFlix!!

Whenever I hear about a movie that's in the theater I want to rent later, I put it into my queue as a "SAVE". Then as soon as it's released (actually a few weeks before) it moves into my active queue and I move it up

I do the same. My save list is bigger than my queue

Have they ever accurately shown the new releases?
