Sounds like a speed/duplex issue with the nic and your router. What kind of network card and what kind of router? Check the settings on the nic and see if it is set to auto, 10/full, 10/ half, 100/ full, 100/ half. If it is set to auto change it to 100/ full and see if that works. I have seen this issue too many times to count and it usually is a speed/duplex issue
