I had such high hopes for this flick.. and as usual hollywood fucks me over.

Ah well...

Damn.. It's really sad because that movie had potential (on paper).

ALIEN VS. PREDATOR - 1/10

"Quite possibly the worst movie of the year, this disaster of a summer popcorn flick insults the audience's intelligence and disregards the amount of time taken away from the viewer's life while watching this cliché-ridden waste of time. What could have been an interesting battle between two of sci-fi's most beloved creatures of the last few decades quickly becomes the biggest let down and a disgrace to both of the franchises (as if they hadn't done so themselves previously).

The blame lies in the shaky hands of Paul W.S. Anderson, the director of the two failed game-to-screen adaptations of "Resident Evil" and Mortal Kombat". Since he wrote the story, screenplay, and directed it, it's safe to say that all fingers point to Anderson on this one. Sanaa Lathan and Lance Henriksen's talents are wasted with the horrendous dialogue and and shameful hamming needed for their barely-likeable characters. In fact, it's safe to say that none of the characters are worth caring about, so when they are picked off, it's just another for the body count.

Since critics were (not surprisingly) denied a screening of the film, it's safe to mention how ridiculous the plot is since it has already been released. Of course the viewer is always expected to suspend disbelief, but this is a little much to ask. How do the Aliens and the Predators meet, you ask? Apparently the Predators used to bring the Aliens to Earth to hunt them to prove what great warriors they were. When things got out of control, the Predators blew everyone up, including the Aztecs, whom were "enslaved" by the Predators, which is supposed to explain the craftwork of the temples. Anyway, a greedy multi-millionaire finds a "lost city" and digs to find...well, you can figure it out. Sound bad enough? Wait! There's more: You'll see a Matrix-style slow-mo scene with Aliens flying in the face of the humans, a Predator running in slow-motion with a human (don't ask), and an E.T.-like ending for the Predators. Speaking of the ending, I won't spoil it for you if you actually feel compelled to disregard the warning, but if you've seen the other awful "Vs." ("Freddy Vs. Jason"), this has pretty much the same exact final scene. Avoid this one at all costs, folks. It's a stinker."

Damn. That's a shame. I was really looking forward to the Alien/Predator sauna makeout scene.

That sucks, I thought it had potential. I amyet to hear a positive review.

its sad to hear this about the movie. I had high hopes for it too, but I think Ill wait for the DVD, then change my mind and wait for it to come on cable.

Well, I think it was better than Alien Resurrection.

Course that isn't saying a lot.

Seems beyond reason that people thought it would be good.

Too bad they didnt get James Cameron to direct it. Looking forward to whatever movie he makes next.

I cannot spread enough hate about this guy. He fucked up Mortal Kombat. He fucked up Resident Evil. It takes a special kind of anti-talent to ruin such popular creations. He takes these great gory franchises and turns them into mediocre messes because he doesn't have the balls to film anything that he might have to fight for.

He's a corporate hack. He's everything that is wrong with hollywood studios personified. He only does what's safe; which is infuriating when he wins the right to direct what you could call "controversial" subject matter. Subjects of horror and extreme violence. If he doesn't have the stomach for it, then someone else should be allowed the challenge. Don't kill the franchise by trying to make it more digestible to walmart moms.

If he doesn't respect the legacy of ALIEN or PREDATOR then of course he's not going to respect some unknown comic. Sorry to be blunt, but if you actually got a contract involving this guy, only sign it if all you care about is the paycheck.

I just saw AVP and I thought it was cool. I think there should've been more predators, like an army.

MY 12 YEAR OLD basted brother wanted to go see it..and i, being nice took him to see and it sucks BALLS! I WANTED to walk the fuck out in the middle of the movie because it was so bad!

In 1986, James Cameron said that he personally never wanted to do another Alien movie. He said that making another alien movie would be boring...

Fox should've listened to him.. Look what happened with Alien 3.
