ah yes, it's just a "service" lol.. That's a great cover. Ya, people are making money with newsgroups but with content they own. Sure, there are some that make money using stolen content, but does that make it ok to create a "service" that charges people to get all the stolen content they want in one place? No matter how you look at it, wether it's a service or not, they are profiting from something that does not belong to them. Ya, members of other paysites are posting the content on newsgroups but they are not making money from it. Guba is offering a service? Again, a good cover. "we're not stealing. We're offering a service for content that's already available"... Ya, for free. Don't use an ATM as a comparison.. An ATM is a service to access YOUR money. It's not there to access everyone elses money.
If GUBA offered this service for free then it would be just like browsing newgroups but they are charging money for people to get all this content. So the service they're actually offering is easy access to content? Ya, great service if YOU own the content or have the rights to use that content.
Ok, let me explain this in a way a 5 year old can understand
- pics posted on newgropus for free by people
- others browse the newgoups free and look at the pics
- all of a sudden a "company" offers a "service" that lists all the content but for a price.
- but wait, they never bought this content.. No license to use them or anything
- oh, but they are just a service.
- again, they are selling access to loads of content they are not lisenced to use
It's as bad as making thumbnail galleries using pics you do not own to promote a pay site. You profit from someone elses content when you don't have the right to do so. Just because the content is available for free on the newsgroups it doesn't make it ok for someone to offer a "service" like this and make money from someone elses work. Lucky for them I'm not a content producer.
