      You're misinformed.

Purely on energy exports alone, 17% of your entire oil consumption and a whopping 87% of natural gas comes from Canada. We ship more oil to you than Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Venezuela or anyone else.

There's nothing that the US ships to Canada that we can't get somewhere else. Your primary exports to us are heavy machinery and processes metals (ie: raw steel) which, coincidentally, the majority of raw materials to make come from Canada (like our nickel to make that steel).

While our economy may be tied a little more tightly to US fortunes than we'd like, Canada would be completely capable of self-sustained commerce if the US should suddenly vanish off the planet. It would hurt, of course, but we'd continue trucking along nicely after undergoing adjustments in what our focus would be for exports and cutting deals with new consumers. I wonder if the US would continue to blithely go along with 1/6th of it's oil supplies gone... I seem to recall a massive recession in the 70s/80s when the arabs tightened the taps only a margin compared to the quantities received from Canada today.

Hundreds of thousands of your citizens cross the border to get a better life here every day, yet when they get back home they wallow in their mindless anti-american bashing syndrome, yet they are enjoying the fruits of a great economy....
      Again, you're misinformed.

Acccording to the latest census information I've seen, roughly 10k per year emigrate from here to the US. That number has been dropping over the years too, so it may not even be that high today.

UCSIS document - Check page 8

And something you obviously haven't considered, a large number of americans emigrate to Canada, at the rate of about 6k per year.

      Statistics Canada

Of course, if you took the time to actually look at the numbers, you'd realize this. It's not like data is difficult to find. It's all available online from official sources. Get over your jingoism and get informed from some place more authoritative than Faux News.

            yep we are doing great

WASHINGTON - The U.S. trade deficit widened much more than expected in June, hitting a record $55.8 billion as the biggest drop in exports in nearly three years combined with record imports, the government said on Friday.

The increased deficit for imports isn't surprising. As the old saying goes, "An Army marches on its stomach"... nowadays, a mechanized army marches on its oil (and oil products, ie. gasoline). The exports thing is a little more enigmatic.

From a purely economic basis, it's a little counter-intuitive. The USD has lost serious ground against pretty much every major world currency (Japanese Yen, GB Pound, Euro, Indian Rinminbi and of course the Canadian Dollar). Traditionally, currency devaluation means increased trade because your products are now cheaper to procure on the world market.

I wish the article went into more detail as to if specific sectors are down, or if its a general depression of exports. Perhaps increased energy prices have offset the currency slump to the point where the price per unit is actually increased. Perhaps the problems are more political, or tied to nervousness about global instability. We may never know.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- President Bush said Thursday that America is "absolutely" better off today than it was four years ago -- on both the national security and domestic fronts.

"The world's safer. ... Libya's no longer a threat. Pakistan is an ally in the war on terror," Bush said in an exclusive interview on CNN's "Larry King Live."

                Bush goes on to say.....

"We thought we'd find stockpiles. The whole world thought we'd find stockpiles. ... But what we do know is Saddam Hussein had the capability of making weapons of mass destruction, and after September 11th, a risk we could not take was that he would share that capability with our enemies."

                Fucking amazing.

Absolutely - totally agree - not!

Bush is absolutely the worst President the US ever had - and I'm absolutely convinced he is the worst leader of any western nation in the last three decades.

This "thing" is an absolute idiot!

I think this shit about Bush far exceeds anything to do with politics and sure as hell has little to do with John Kerry or *anyone* on the planet.

Bush is not a competitent man and sure as hell has no clue about the real world. He is also a dishonorable man who can not be trusted on his word - he has nada credibility. Bush has done *absolutely* nothing for the US people and just brought the US into a league of rogue states. That is not the type of person who should be anywhere near *any* government office, nevermind the White House.

So... Whether you are told this and that about John Kerry being a "flip flopper" or anyone else - the fact remains that we currently have a total incompetitent in the White House - whoever is elected can only do better - even if it's your family dog.

Christ you are a dumbass. I have more trust in someone who comes back from Vietnam and has the balls to speak the truth about it than some motherfucker who got orgasms from killing other people.

And quit this fucking lie that he admitted to commiting war crimes, his problem with the war was that he witnessed war crimes. You are nothing more than a tool for the right propaganda machine.

The bottom line is he served in Vietnam, you didnt nor did Bush. I guess if anyone has the right to speak their mind about that war it would be him.

There were a lot of vets who came back and said the war was wrong. And as we all know now it was.

Just like the current war. Wrong on so many levels. We should be going after Osama and quit fucking around in Iraq.
i commend him for speaking out against the war and standing up for what he believes in. but the fact is he cant have it both ways. he cant say that soldiers were commiting atroicities and then when he needs them for his campain shake their hand like they are great.

And quit this fucking lie that he admitted to commiting war crimes, his problem with the war was that he witnessed war crimes. You are nothing more than a tool for the right propaganda machine.

The bottom line is he served in Vietnam, you didnt nor did Bush. I guess if anyone has the right to speak their mind about that war it would be him.
lie? ive seen the video of him listing atroicities that he witnessed and then admit he commited them himself. he admitting to violating the geneva convention. how many civilians did he kill when he took part in free firezones? if non, it wouldnt of even been an issue raised.

SuckOnThis pretty much summed things up into full perspective.

The biggest issue is unlike the conservatives I actually care about the future of the country/world. On a personal level I see the people around me barely making it, losing their jobs and their homes. These same people were turning down jobs left and right 4 years ago. Its exactly the same situation that was happening during the 80's with Reagan and Bush Sr. Economies always experience ups and downs so that can be expected.

There is a much bigger problem today compared to the 80's though. The hate being produced by the right is being embraced by half the country and becoming more and more acceptable. It blows my mind that there are millions of people in America that have no problem with a president that fabricates information in order to invade a country. It also shocks me that this administration has continually manipulated people using fear and lies in order to push its agenda. People on the right know that they are doing this and have no problem with it. I am certain this admin will do anything to stay in power, whether it be manipulate election results or create more fear. Its no different than what Hitler did to gain power and control of Germany.

I am certain Bush will remain in power. What I see happening is either a terrorist attack days before the election or the threat of a terrorist attack on the day of the election. If people are afraid to go out and vote Bush will win. It is a fact that on high voter turnouts dems usually win. It wouldnt surprise me at all if this happens to see a civil war in this country between the left and the right.
