What type of program doesn't renew the contract or retain the services of someone who is exceeding expectations??? Let alone how could the same mistake be made by multiple programs????

UNLESS. Sales Man is not the correct job description for you. In which case you have been doing yourself a huge diservice buy calling yourself a sales man. While yes you may have sold things in the past.
In Short, it probably time to stay focused on the positive, and shine a positive professional light upon yourself. The industry is growing up , fighting it the whole way but growing up none the less. Drama and controversy are not worth what they once were. In the present turbulant climate it's about numbers and results with the least amount of trouble or negative attention.
And if you are 1/2 as good as you say you are or 1/3 as good as you think you are. To settle for a 3 or 6month contract is selling yourself short. People who hire " hired guns" are short sighted and are prone to unstable business practice.
I'll end now and refrain from sending MY consulting bill
