Happy 4th of July weekend!
Its crazy how in the current political climate, I?m sometimes made to feel ?less patriotic? than my red state counterparts. But patriotism is not measured by the size of the flag you wave or the number of yellow ribbon stickers you have on your car.
Which is why the Forth of July is an excellent time to remember what being an American is all about.
Obviously it means something different to each citizen. That is part of the whole point of America. But re-read the Declaration of Independence some time. It is a ballsy piece of writing.
Our nation was created by baddass free thinkers. Rabble rousers and shit-stirrers.
The focus of this country is on FREEDOM. Not decency. Not family values.
So I will continue to walk my pornographic path as a proud pink patriot.
(In fact, I think most of the founding fathers would rather share a mug of ale with someone from GFY, than they would with most of our elected officials.)
On this 4th of July weekend, I salute all those who speak up for freedom. Those who voice dissent. Those who fight for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
