Copying Fucking Cheating Scum what to do..

it's not the first time one of our sites has been copied in part or
as a whole.. i caught another one and contacted him...he admited
to one part he copied..i then told him there's is more...he replied
show me ..so i show him and he goes ahh that's ok i'll change it

now he keeps saying that's all but in actual fact he has copied
many parts of 2 of our sites !!
that's right 2 sites, i am sure he didn't even know we owned both of them so my guess is the rest of his site was copied from someone else as well!
now he's scared i'll take this to the boards !

what would you guys do ?
keep in mind the site is not a gallery or tgp..etc..
it's a business that deals with webmasters, webmasters
that haveto get paid.... not saying he doesn't pay....
    however you have to wonder

I'm amazed at some of the people that steal designs and the like. I remember starting a thread about an affiliate program that stole sharky's design site layout (aaaadultdesign.com).

You've requested that he removes the design, next thing to do is have your lawyer send him some legal mumbo jumbo. Normally enough to scare most cheats straight.

i even called the guy on the phne..telling him about it
i was expecting him to admit to it and change it...end of story
but he keeps excusing himself saying i didn't copy that much
show me what else i copied...
wtf does that mean...he wants to get away with changing as little as possible and keeping some of the design he stole
or maybe he site is a copy of many sites and he just doesn't
remember which parts he stole from where...

We had the same problem, I spent a few mins on
the phone with my L.A. attorney and did not get
to hear anything I wanted to hear.

Try to get them to remove it, or better yet!

let everyone hear know about it.

is this supposed to be similar to the site in your profile?

cuz it doesn't look anything like it.

Contrary to the opinion, and wishes, of some designers, I've never seen a court ruling that say it is illegal to copy the design of a webpage. If it was, then Yahoo, UBB, Apple, Amazon, and all of the other sites that get copied daily would be making money on lawsuits.

It certainly does bring it to question their ethics, though. Your best option is probably to fuck them up on the boards if they don't change it.

But has anyone tested it in the courts, insofar as copying website design?

True enough, but you can't find proper redress in the courts unless you have actually registered it. See point #2 at http://www.gigalaw.com/archives/0202...202-00022.html
