Which is an important step. But think of it like this, you can invade them and spend 200 billion dollars (most likely more in Iran of course) to keep fighting there, or you can sink that (whatever the total for Iraq, Iran and Saudi Arabia - I'll say 500) 500 billion into developing alternative energy. Nuclear fusion + hydrogen cars = problem solved. 500 billion would most likely do that.
