I know...how? I am a letterpress printer. This is an obsolete method of printing, and in order to understand points, you need to know what they are.
In printer's terms, we measure in points and picas. Throw inches and the metric system out the window.
There are 72 points in a inch. A 12 point typeface is standard size, so to speak...it's about the size of a letter printed in a book, or a newspaper.
Of course none of this matters, as monitor settings render all this worthless.
