Very few actors have business skills. The studios and producers are the ones who make the lion's share of the big money in Hollywood.
There's probably not even 500 actors who make millions if that.
Then the cost of living big out there is nutzo. You can literally spend it as fast as it comes in.
The old time big name stars made their fortunes in real estate. Guys like Bob Hope, Bing Cosby and Dean Martin would take what was then worthless land instead of big paychecks. That land eventually became prime real estate worth a fortune. They were all frugal and watched their pennies.
Plus you have to remember even a star getting paid say $10 Mil a year has to give 10% to the agent, 5% to their lawyer, about 15% to all the other high end people that make them what they are, and then Uncle Sam scoops its bite. If an actor ends up with a couple mil left after everyone else take their end and they pay all their lifestyle bills, that's about it.
The only way to really accumulate wealth is to own part of the show or movie. Then you can get really wealthy. But only a handful can demand that kind of deal.
"Nash Bridges" actor Don Johnson is starring in a real-life episode of international intrigue - and he's not at all pleased with the casting.
German customs authorities are investigating Johnson after he was stopped with financial instruments valued at $8 billion, according to published reports. That's right: They say $8 billion.

Exactly why Keanu Reeves made a killing on The Matrix. He demanded to be paid a percentage of proceeds rather than be paid a set amount before shooting. Smart move. Bob Hope, well yeah, huge real estate holder. Don Johnson took the 80's excesses a little too far unfortunately.
Michael Jackson won't be broke either with his investment in the Beatles recordings. He makes money every time a Beatles song is played. He may be in debt, but he can get out of it if he stops spending because he earns millions in royalties off the beatles music.
Well ...it was some time in the mid 1980's ..partied in Hollywood at my ex partners house, he was in a Rock band, Don showed up and stayed for days, the boy could do his coke that is for sure..dont think he ever really gave it up..
no matter if you make 100 dollars or 100 million, you do that cocaine shit ...you will lose it all....no matter how much!

MJ mortgaged the Beatles catalog to the hilt to keep afloat.
