It's not as though the fluid is bringing the dog back to life, what's happening is it's putting the dog's bodies into stasis, which after the blood is replaced, can be re-started.

Say if someone had a stroke or the like, they could quickly drain out their blood and replace it with the fluid, thus stopping any metabolism, while then being able to take their time fixing the problems.
