As Dark Jedi's thread a few weeks back proved even on GFY, the gene pool of any modern society always reaches a peak in terms of IQ and capability, then spirals downward because the sharper people rightly don't desire the nuissance and money cost of children and leave that to those who are "searching" for something they hope a kid will fill.

The people with emotional voids in their lives, co-dependent forever basically, or under pressure from future-Grandparents to "supply them", are the only ones left having children eventually, while those who don't need that filler in their lives for happiness and contentment simply end their genetic-pass-on cycle.

In Japan the declining birth rate has reached almost emergency levels, where the government is actually thinking of giving financial incentives to couples to have children. They're just the first to reach that point, the United States is also said to have peaked in terms of birthrate year-over-year, and will begin the long descent downward also.

That data doesn't jibe with all the stereotypes on GFY of course, who will likely pound their keyboards saying "But all the Mexicans and Black welfare Moms have so many kids, that can't be true!!" lol. The census says otherwise, we're at the peak currently, and it's only down from here.
