MTV's True Life: I'm on Adderall ...Anyone on this "adderall" shit?

I think I have ADHD, as I lose focus quite quick when doing boring I-net related tasks. I'm sure many of you do, as it is the nature of the "biz". But needless to say, I'm really out there. Plus when I was younger I was diagnosed with ADD, as such they wanted to put me on Ritalin. Long story short, I said no, because ritalin is bullshit. However, two nights ago, MTV had this special about adderall.

Anyone on this medication? Had any POSITIVE (or negative ) experiences while on this drug? My sudden interest in this drug is simple - It makes you productive/able to focus, plus supplies you a decent buzz in the meantime. In addition to those lovely perks, it can also be construed as a diet suppliment, as adderall kills your appetite somewhat.

    Input anyone?

KMR - Thanks for the input. In regard to the "zombie"-like feeling, is this effect induced only when you take the drug (that day)? Or does it slowly drain your personality/charisma completely, for life? Just curious, because my use of this drug will (hopefully) be short term. Thus, I'd hate to take something that will jeopardize who am I, for the rest of my life. Just because I took it for a few weeks.

          Have you tried eating healthy?

Or tried any type of elimination diets to make sure you don't have an allergy to milk or something?

          Blah. Damn pharmas.

So you mean to tell me, it's been the Big Macs causing this disorder, allowing me to perpetuallly lose focus/concentration. Damn, go figure, all this time I thought it was in the mind.

              Adverse Reactions
Amphetamines may cause the following reactions:

              1) Heart palpitations, tachycardia (racing heart), elevation of blood pressure. There have been isolated reports of heart disease associated with chronic amphetamine use.

              2) Psychotic episodes at recommended doses (rare), overstimulation, restlessness, dizziness, insomnia, euphoria, depression, dyskinesia (loss of motor control), tremor, headache, and exacerbation of motor and speech problems, including Tourette's syndrome.

              3) Dryness of the mouth, unpleasant taste, diarrhea, constipation, other gastrointestinal disturbances. Anorexia and weight loss may occur.
              Hives.

              4) Impotence and changes in libido.

              That is some list.

I saw that MTV thing too. I have an aquaintance who is about 22, since she graduated from high school her weight has fluctuated back and forth about 20 lbs. I recently asked my mom what her deal was and she said she gains/loses when she is on or off Adderal. She is almost exactly like that girl they featured, when she is on it she does great in school and work and then loses her shit when she goes off it.

                    Amphetamine Psychosis sounds fun.

Seriously, amphets are bad. Easy addiction, easy abuse, and it WILL bite you in the ass one day. I've seen far too many lives ruined by amphetamines.

I agree. We have way to much dependence on legal drugs in society. Hippocrates the father of moder medicine said; "The mind is a great healer." We should focus on using it better!

Adderall is huge and has been for quite some time, especially on college campuses. The one thing I would worry about is what they psychologist said at the end, you take it a couple of times and realize it works, quite well to. Then people start thinking of it as a "miracle pill" and become dependent on it. I've seen people become so convinced that they go to a psychologist just to get a prescription after trying it.

As for side effects, - it will keep you awake, and kill your appetite. I know some people who are prescribed quite a bit and they hate being on it, my guess is cause when it wears off after taking it - you crash somewhat. I've seen them when they look like shit.. However, with the right dosage, the right attitude, and an understanding of what it is, i think the drug can be helpful. I think the big problem is so many people are getting their hands on it, and not realizing to take it easy with it on it, and use it for what its supposed to be used for..

trust me when i say you don't want to be taking it on a regular basis... but in certain situations, it is beneficial.
