Better than in the USA, where getting any kind of medical work done costs you an arm and a leg if you don't have insurance. Or the insurance costs almost as much as the arm and the leg.

The high-tax thing is not nearly as extreme as certain people would like you to believe. Those that push the meme are the business owners who try to wring yet more tax concessions away from the government.

Last year, I paid a combined federal and provincial tax load to the tune of around 24%, and last year was quite lucurative. Business owners get a host of tax incentives, particularly small business, and the average work-a-day joe would pay roughly the same tax here as in the US, with the added advantage of guaranteed medical care.
