yup, which is fine. I think that what gets some of our backs up is that a lot of folks (not you, per say) come at this sort of thing like we are all asking everyone to fuck us or date us. If someone is attracted to thin women only then great. I wouldn't want thin women to go without attention either. However, the fact is that as a big person I run into people that just generally uncomfortable to talk to me at all. That is dumb but what it does do is act as a good way to monitor if a person is accepting or judgemental. As such, the people I allow into my life as either a pure friend or as something more have already shown me that they tend to have the open minded nature that I like in a person.

Well, the bright side of these threads is that I now have a much larger list of people to not do business with.

I don't mind the people who say they're not into fat girls, don't find them attractive, get turned off by them. And I don't even mind people who choose not to be friends gay people, ugly people, other races, etc. Everyone has the right to their opinions and to choose who they date or associate with. But as far as the ones being assholes and bashing people, taking it too far, I share Sarah's opinion, let them bash all they want to but I'm not going to make them any money.

For the most part, they're nobodies and you couldn't do business with them if you wanted to. Don't worry there. The ones that act this way and could do business with you have heads that are still stuck in High School...even though they're pushing 40 (BT from Traffic Cash). Again...childish attitudes you probably won't want to trust your livelihood with.

Just because someone is fat it doesnt mean they are unhealthy. I may like my food. Thats a given and I am not going to feel upset about the fact that when I go out I want to eat. But I am also active. I dont own a car. So I walk to my work. I walk alot of places. When I go out to clubs I am not sitting on the side lines i am dancing and I can dance circles around alot of people.

I am not going to circle around it and say that im fat because genetics because while that may play a part in it(ive seen pictures of my german ancestors..big people) I like food, I like to enjoy myself and not put a restrain on myself. Diets are bad and cause you to gain more weight back if you cant stand being on them anymore (one reason I try to eat healhy instead of diets) I eat till im done and I feel that is alot better then eating to a certain point and still being hungry.

And why are we online? well because yeah some fat people are ugly but some skinny people are too. The majority of girls you find online are the cream of the bbw crop.

Tala, about 20 years ago, I worked for high end clothing manufacturers who'd sell to the states. The pricing structure was basically the same for all sizes however, since 'Americans' were getting bigger and getting alot of media attention about it - the stores preferred tagging the '14-16' sizes as 'plus' so they could charge more. The fact is that if ordered correctly & before the lots go in for cutting, the costs to produce it were pretty much the same if planned & cut at the same time as other sizes. It's the almighty buck, I tell you!

As someone who's big I don't think I've ever been discriminated against because of my size. My idea on it all is if they don't like it they don't have to look. If you're business minded, you couldn't care less what someone looks like, all you should care about is if they can make you money - I don't hear single girl BBW sites suffering - they get a dedicated following.

How do polycystic ovaries turn you fat? My sister has had them and has had many surgeries and dealt with them for years and even now that she is a few months pregnant she is still normal weight.

Maybe she probably also has PCOS, which has weight gain/obesity as one of the symptoms.

Everybody's different.....my husband was not into fat girls, but he fell in love with me, and I happen to be a big girl. We've had two babies together, and I've had three c-sections, and was recently diagnosed with MS so i can't be as active as I'd like to. In fact, when I buckled down after the last baby and started working the BodyForLife program was when my health deteriorated to the point that I sought medical attention and was diagnosed. In any case, people will say things on a message board and act in a manner they may never act in a face-to-face situation. Anonymity gives insecure people a platform to build themselves up at others' expenses. But the majority of the comments I'm seeing are just dumb guy comments...locker room talk. Some of the guys who are bashing bbws to look like one of the guys may someday have a secret crush on a fat girl they may never persue for fear of their friends' redicule, and that's much sadder to me than how I feel reading their comments. The ones that genuinely aren't interested in thick chicks, more power to them...everybody's entitled to their own opinion and we can't control who we're attracted to. Even I, as a big girl, am only attracted to women bigger than me if I find them strikingly beautiful....lucky me...as a webgirl, I have lots of options, lol.
I don't even feel offended by these rude remarks...because I know they don't apply to me. Yes, I am overweight, but I know I have something about me that draws people to me. Even if they aren't interested in me physically, people like to be around me. That means more to me than them JUST wanting to bang me...so in a way, I consider myself better off than if I were a thin girl.
I've taken what I've got, and made the most out of it. that's what most bbw webgirls have done. they've learned to love themselves. There is nothing wrong with that...anyone with any decency appreciates the human need for self-acceptance...and the ones who deny bbws that right are lacking something in themselves.

Well, it's good to hear things turned out well for your sister.

However, the fact that your sister didn't get all of the symptoms (weight gain), doesn't mean those symptoms don't exist. People's bodies react differently to stuff, so you shouldn't use a single example to dismiss all symptoms that single example didn't have.

That's like going around and booing people with cancer because they haven't overcome the disease and won the Tour de France 6 times yet

not everyone has the same symptoms but a good number of the people with PCOS are obese. Doctors are still debating over the exact reasons and in the 6 years or so that I have been diagnosed I have had the same doctors change their opinions on me more than once.

My type of PCOS does effect weight. The most common view is that it has something to do with insulin production and as you stated is endocrine in nature. Essentially it can either cause you to gain weight (usually around puberty which is exactly when I started really gaining) or make it VERY VERY hard to drop any weight at all. For me, what happens is that I can easily drop 20lbs and then from there on in it is so painfully difficult that I eventually give up. Which, I know if a bit of a fault in my own life but you know you can only hit your head against the wall so much before you start to cry and wonder why you aren't stopping.

PCOS has made me infertile and the thing is that my sister had one of her ovaries removed when she was just three months old (had a tumour) and she was the one that wasn't suppose to have kids but she is super thin and normal fertility wise. All the while no one was watching me and really no one was diagnosing PCOS back then. I had my thyriod checked at about 14 and that was normal but no one check for PCOS. When I moved to the UK I had to go register with the doctor here and had a meeting with a nurse. She asked me about family health history and I told her about my sister and then told her that I pretty much hadn't had a period for 5 years. She took one look at me, at where I carried my weight (around my mid section which is where the majority of PCOS folks carry it) and told me that she thought I had PCOS. I had a test the next week and it came back positive.

In some ways it was a bit of joy because now I knew part of the reason I was this size. I mean, I have been on a diet of some sort since I was atleast 7 years old. My mom didn't feed us too much junk food and I did gym class, played soccer and played outside like every other kid but I was fat and even more so when puberty kicked in.

PCOS does effect the weight of many people but some folks are lucky. If your sister is one of them than I am very happy for her because the pain that comes along with the cysts is enough to deal with without having the weight too.

I've been up and down over the years...and admittedly, right now I certainly don't feel comfortable with myself physically. I know what I have to do and try to do it.

HOWEVER, I have had the same experience as was stated here already....many people DO like to be around me. I have brains, humor, wit, and I'm a generally all around 'nice' person. I know that when people 'like' me, they like me for who I am, not what I am physically. It really is a bonus, and I do feel badly for all of those smart, witty, nice thin women who have to wade through all the attention to find TRUE friends and lovers. I've been there in the past, and it's no fun at all.

I do get the point of this thread though....MissMina is just calling out all the hypocrites who enjoy bashing others in order to make themselves feel and look better on the boards. Like it or not, everyone, including the bashers has some type of 'fault' and something about themselves that they are insecure about, or something that would be easy pickin's for bashing....
