I pulled a 30 sec, or 2 min DV AVI, then ran it through all of them. Not just once, but a few times. But looking for quality differences, and file size. With 5+ minute clips need to keep quality, but obviously do not want 5 gig clips.
xvid got the smallest in file size, decent quality. Very close to DviX in quality, but the dviX was a bit bigger. Then also tested with Premiere, versus XL, and was a VERY noticable difference. So ran a few small clips through, and then larger, also took them. Burt to DVD, and watched.
SO if you have XL, definately use it!
