    Its HBO.

"HBO posted a profit of nearly $1.1 billion last year, according to figures obtained by The Wall Street Journal."
"HBO is the most profitable network in the world and will continue to be as long as anybody can see," said Chris Albrecht, the network's chairman.

The Sopranos. Their excellent HBO-made movies and series. HBO is the shit.

Probably because they have less overhead. They don't have to maintain high priced news personalities etc., and they have fewer "network" shows than the major networks, so most profitable is quite possible, now highest grossing network could be completely different.

HBO has done some quality stuff, Oz, Band of Brothers and The Sopranos to name a few.

exactly. other networks might have had "Seinfeld" (which has lead all tv programs to dvd's in sales) but you have to pay those stars unreal fees.

but the fact is that HBO has some real quality.

".......it depends on viewers to pay about $15 a month for a subscription. About 28 million homes get HBO; the company gained about 600,000 subscribers last year and expects the same growth this year."

              28 million homes!

is HBO considered a 'network'? maybe a 'cable' network then. but definitely not a broadcast network like the other 3.

sorry, I come from TV and if the Big 3 heard HBO was a called a network, they would prolly get miffed. LOL

I pay almost $80 a month for my Digital cable package. HALF of that goes to HBO for their premium services.

This doesn't surprise me at all.

                      Spend you some brain.
