You should never hire a hooker because, with your attitude, you will only be disappointed. I, on the other hand, view it as a fun business transaction (just like hiring a massage therapist). It's fun. I enjoy seeing hookers and your statement "and they are the only women they can get" is absolutely not true for me and for most "hobbiests". The men who hire hookers because it is the only way they can get laid are few and far between -- and those are the men who are often disappointed.
