Less so today than several years ago. Then, any idiot could make big bucks in porn. Today it takes tons of work or a huge brain, or both. But still, pound for pound, you make more money with porn than more mainstream stuff.
Thanks, Wimpy -- let me clarify what I am suggesting a bit:

I'm not saying that any of us should abandon what are clearly and by a wide margin the most profitable aspects of our business. What I'm saying is that there are many, many opportunities arrayed along the mainstream / adult borderline that make excellent sense for us to be involved with, NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE MORE PROFITABLE THAN OUR CORE ADULT OPERATIONS, but because -- in light of our various legal and political vulnerabilities -- doing so would give us greater influence over the ways Adult is perceived in our society -- think of it as PR with a revenue model.

I often look to Las Vegas for many inspirational ideas we might apply to our business. In Vegas, we all know where the big money and the super-fat margins come from. But I don't think any of us would be surprised to discover that casino owner/operators were involved with "projects" that don't return as much as the craps tables, but offer the opportunity to shape and influence what is understood about the city and the gaming operations that sustain it.

The "Players" in Vegas don't spend all day counting their money in the backoffice, and just TRUST that the rest of the business world will do all it can to support gaming and cooperate with casino operators. You can bet there are "casino people" sitting around the table whenever any kind of deal is coming together that touches on the city in any way -- whether it's SouthWest Airlines, McDonalds, the City Construction Authority or Cirque de Soleil.

For us the need is an urgent one -- becuase it's not just about top or bottom lines, it's about our very survival. We simply cannot afford to be under-represented or mis-represented in non-adult-businesses that affect us. The fact that we could achieve that representation and turn a profit (albeit not as juicy a profit as our pure adult plays) makes this a no-brainer for me --
