Sushi to me, isn't an acquired taste -- Either you like it or you don't. But sashimi (basically, anything raw) is definitely an acquired taste. I used to dislike the texture and the though of eating something raw, but after forcing it down everytime my parents went out, I soon loved it.
Actually, sashimi really has no taste to it (it should have a very slight taste, but if you can actually taste the fish, it's not fresh).
It's an expensive cuisine though, as most people can't afford it - I love how people say they "hate" it when they've never tried it!
