Actually this is great news. Fuck Wal-Mart. They move into little towns, destroy the local businesses by selling below cost, then when the competition is gone they jack the prices right back up. A group of pharmacists proved this in court. Wal-Mart can eat a cock and I hope the Teamsters rape them.

Every WalMart store needs to be burned to the ground.

The owners are religious zealots who ban (or demand censorship of) the sale of any music, movies, magazines, or other products that The Good Lord objects to; which would be their prerogative, if they didn't also bully their way into being the only outlet in town for many areas.

They do kill local small businesses with unfair business practices, such as selling at a loss. (because they have the reserves to survive that until compeition is dead)

Then the community becomes dependant on them, so they can exploit employees who have nowhere else to go. They also exploit foriegn labor - but most americas don't care about poor brown kids in sweat shops working for pennies a day.

In addition, they will not fill prescriptions for the 'morning-after pill' (which works exactly the same as standard cyclic birth control) contributing to unnecessary abortions.

Walmart doesn't even have to sell stuff at a loss to takeover all the business in a small town. They have so much buying power that they get everything at a few percent over cost...

It's ironic that a store built on flag-waving, country music, and NASCAR is filled wall to wall with stuff made in China and Mexico.

Walmart alone probably accounts for a high percentage of our trade deficit.

This happened in my Grandmother's little town in PA. Walmart opened up a big ass store right outside town. Everyone was so excited, they couldn't believe their insignificant village actually got to have it's own Walmart! Soon, everyone was getting jobs or shopping there.
Now it's a couple of years later, the Main Street area, which had a hardware store, a little grocery, etc, is all empty. Only the barber shop and bar is still open. People have been petitioning the town hall to make the Walmart move, but too many people work there now. There are always picketers out front, but my Grandmother says there's just no where else to go to get a lot of the crap they sell, unless they want to drive 40 miles to the next town.
