looking at the lawsuit I think they had something totally different in mind when they established myspace but it took off into the wrong/right direction. -

The problem with MySpace is that what you see is what you get. Online communities have a long history of sitting idle while someone else comes along and tops them.
That's a big problem because their core userbase is very trend oriented. Mostly teens to mid-20's. All it takes is the "popular kids" to make the switch to another service and everyone follows them.
This is not a hypothetical situation either. It's exactly how MySpace got their userbase, and how the popular spot before them got theirs.Comment

They're in a lot of hot water for installing Spyware on people's computers.
The NYS Attorney General has filed a fairly serious suit against them.
Here are some stories following it all...

I would agree with you if online social communities had a history of continuously evolving their own services, but they don't. For MySpace to remain at the top we would have to assume no more innovation is possible, which simply isn't the case.Originally posted by xxxjayDude - myspace is just on the verge of really blowing up. Someone else will come out with something new and provide compelling reasons for users to switch. Mark my words. It may not be this year or next, but I'm sure we'll see something on the scene by 2007 that is a threat to MySpace.Comment

Lars please point me to where it said Intermix is considering spinning off myspace.com
I agree with you, this stock is undervalued and has a lot of room to grow $12 is very reasonable and with the NYG settlement it will be moving up over the next few weeks and months as revenue growth is excelerating nicely. Also for many people that dont know while myspace.com is the biggest site of theirs, they also run 30 other sites in different entertainment categoriesComment

How does myspace make money? I never see any banner ads on their site. Edit: ok on the main page I do, but there are none on the profile pages right?
The domain was registered in 1996. Was it live in 1996 also or did it just go live last year and grow in popularity that quickly?Comment

They used to be X drive which was kinda like geocities... they already had 1 million users when they started myspace.. and added the social networking ..
They mkae money from ads. a lot of the pages on there are ads for companies they just look like sites. A lot of bands pay extra money for more exposure. And they do ahave advertising.Last edited by Xenophage; 06-16-2005, 07:14 AM.Comment

Did anything in particular happen in May 2005 that made the stock start climbing instead of dropping further? Look:
MySpace has become one of the hottest properties on the Web. Only 20 months old, it already has 14 million unique visitors a month, according to market researcher comScore Media Metrix. That makes it far and away the most popular of what are known as social-networking Web sites.
--For the full fiscal year, the company expects a net income of about $8.2 million on revenue of $118 million.
Music is what drives Myspace. Musicians and record labels have used the site as a platform to launch new albums and tours -- seeing great success doing so.Hit me up for ABC link trades - icq 7583011Comment

Lars is making mad dollars off this. I've never done stocks. Is trading on the stock sites really simple? I'm a simple man. Is it basically click a link that sells "Buy" and another that says "Sell" all the while being able to see if you're up or down and the current stock value? Do you just type in MX stock in a search section and it brings it up for you?
I want in!! Bastards!!
