    For my MMA peeps... Why Tae Kwon Do will get you killed.

    It's so funny watching these fights, I keep hearing either Rorion or Rener Gracie yelling that the headlock is the most common position you will find yourself on the ground against an untrained fighter.

    Then seeing Travis, that's the MMA guy, go for the cross face to either go for a RNC or armbar, and then change his mind and... Well you'll see for yourself.

    I laughed the whole time, this is the attitude of almost every Tae Kwon Do/Kickboxer I've ever met.

                      Monte Cox the promoter of the show relayed the following form the fight that took place in 1998.

                      Geeeezzz... I've explained this fight so many times and yet it keeps reappearing...

                      1. Fulton flew in the day of the show from Brazil to compete in a 4-man 200-pound tournament.

                      2. Bullock came to my hotel room three days in a row begging for a fight and talking shit... I turned him away each time.

                      3. Fulton was a little over the limit (like a pound) and the other fighters in the tourney wouldn't let him compete.

                      4. I had nobody for Travis to fight and he had flown all the way from Brazil.

                      5. Bullock came to my room while I was trying to figure things out... he said he wanted a chance and that I was scared he'd hurt somebody, etc...

                      6. I told him I would let him fight in the show.

                      7. I told Travis I would let him fight, but that he was much bigger and was not allowed to stand with the guy, or hit him... that he had to take the guy down and submit him.

                      8. Bullock had zero injuries... just the wind knocked out of him.

                      9. We had 5,500 people there and it was a great show...

                          that's hilarious... the taekwondo guy is all psyched and showing his skills and trying to look mean and everything and the JJ guy walks in all laid back and limping a bit and yet he takes him out like that. Too funny!

                                                                                              it was over long before that. arona needed to let go of that triangle much earlier. when rampage gets you 8 feet off the ground (and you're unable to get any kind of guillotine) you're going to sleep. the headbutt didn't help.

                                                                                                                                  simple... it's just like the mentality of soccer... if you hit the ball and not let the ball hit you the header won't hurt... in this case rampage was the one to force the accidental headbutt... and afterwards he did feel the pain and he had major stitches... you really have to pay attention to the commentary

                                                                                                                                                      think about it he's slamming down someone so he has the force whilst arona doesn't have any hence he is the one making the headbutt... the momentum of the accidental headbutt was in rampage's favour... and that comes down to simple logic... you really don't need to be a mma expert to figure out something like that...

                                                                                                                                                      and yes technically it is a no contest and arona tried to contest the decision after the fight... but how is the ref to know when something like that happens so fast...

It's true you can be knocked out with a headbutt. It can happen. It's not likely, but it can happen.

                                                                                                                                                                                      With an 8 ft drop, you're gonna be knocked out more than half the time it happens. That's a HUGE FUCKING IMPACT, delivered by a professional who's doing everything he can to maximize the trauma.

                                                                                                                                                                                          Yeah he got fucked up but you see that he tried to stop it with his right elbow and failed miserably...once you know you're going to the mat you just gotta tuck your head in as much as you can, exhale your air and instead of using your right arm to try to stop the slam, slap it against the mat to try to redistibute some of that energy...Even if you knew how to do all of that, you'd still be hurt BAD from a slam like that.
                                                                                                                                                                                          The only thing you can do in that situation is let go completely or be KTFO.

But then of course, we both know this from experience of being slammed while holding someone in the closed guard. Let go, or get fucked up.

                                                                                                                                                                                              Being lifted 2 feet of the ground and then slammed into the mat sucks major fucking ass. I imagine anything more than 2 feet to be way worse.

                                                                                                                                                                                                      I don't know if you remember Gitesh from class, but not too long ago it was the same situation in the academy. He had me triangled and I totally picked him up like Rampage. He wouldn't let go, and I had to choose whether to slam him or let him down gently and get out another way (or tap).

                                                                                                                                                                                                      I let him down gently because I didn't want to kill him. Rener looked at me like he was very disappointed, just looked at me and shook his head sadly LOL!
