    What are the signs of being an Alcoholic?

    I've drank myself retarded after my breakup with my ex and now it seems like it's forming a pattern that I can't get away from. I'm scared that I may become an alcoholic.

    What are some of the signs? Anyone in here a recovering alcoholic?

      Drinking alone = first sign of getting an alcoholic.

      Well, maybe not in case of adult webmasters - they have no friends.

          no but have had several in my family..

          -If you have to have a drink when you start your day

          -if you feel sick after skipping a day of drinking..and the only thing that makes you better is having another drink.

          -if you drink till you pass out everyday

          -frequent black outs during drinking binges

          -not being able to stop drinking once you have the first one

          those are a few..

          no sense in destroying your liver.. get over the girl...move on..enjoy life ...drink in moderation

                          the number one sign I would think is when you get drunk and then start a thread on gfy spouting shit nobody really cares about and bragging like a teenager about how drunk you are all the time and how much weed you smoke.

                          and im not talking about this thread or about you. just saying you see alot of that here and it always comes off as a sad cry for attention.

                                  Yeah, I've never done that and I've posted many times while completely trashed. I bragged about getting torn up when I was in H.S. and College, but I'm 30 now and a little too old to be bragging about how fucked up I got the night before.

                                                      It's starting to affect my life and I see it affecting my life. I don't wake up and drink and don't need it throughout the day but when it gets to a certain time (when I usually start drinking) then I start getting the urge and drinking anxiety.

                                                      I don't think I'm full blown alchy, I just think that if I continue on this path I will become one.

                                                                  Hey HighonAcid..Im a recovering addict..but Ive been to many AA meetings...so I guess you can say I know aspects of both addictions. Your an alcoholic/addict when your life becomes unmanageable and your mind is consumed with the thought of a drink. When you start spending all your money on that drink/drug and you begin to isolate yourself from your loved ones. You know when you got that monkey on your back and you feel like you cant get out of that deep dark hole that youve dug for yourself. Its a sucky feeling..If ya need to talk, let me know..Im here for ya.
