both are used often..just stay away from avi and formats wich require additional codecs like divx, xvid

MPEGs just aren't very efficient and waste more bandwidth then you need too.. I prefer WMV.

for wmv do you encode them in WindowsMedia 7,8, or 9 format?

Also if the video is encoded in 7 but the audio is in 9 does the surfer need to upgrade to 9 to hear the audio?
