IMO, IQ tests are the only tests available that come to close to conveying your true intelligence. Such tests like the SATs, etc. are tests that can be studied for, and are not true indications of your intelligence.Comment

Just took that test, I got a whopping 105... Although my pencil/paper test was a solid 145. My Tickle.com test was in the 150's. It's difficult to compare different IQ tests because of the diversity of deviation calcuations, and of course, the course difficulty.
Granted I took the test in 10 minutes or so, but as someone said previously, common sense is irreplaceable. Many of my closest friends (who are Ivy-leagers), have no common sense whatsoever.Comment

Yeah that test isnt accurate, its so one sided. The IQ test I took when I was a kid involved actually handling blocks and drawing out of mazes without getting a dead end, etc. Looking at fixed things on a computer isnt going to be accurate.Comment

They say now that I.Q. needs to be measured along with E.Q. to determine a persons intelligence. E.Q. is more a measure of how you deal with the real world. They say that given the same I.Q. a person with a higher E.Q. level will actually do much better. Those with a lower I.Q. but high E.Q. can actually do as well or better than those with a higher I.Q.
To put it another way...ever meet someone really smart...but they were always saying stupid things or didn't get something you thought everyone understood? That is someone with a high I.Q., low E.Q.Comment

I usually test in the top 1 percentile. Testing is something I've done well with since I was a small child.
Got a 1380 an the old school (pre-1996) SAT and took the first half of the test stoned out of my gourd.
I'd pretty much guarantee that I'd be up there on the list.Comment

I dont think IQ can be measured with a linear unit.
It's like measuring the size of a box so you can figure out what you can fit into it.
You can measure it with a linear unit like cubic centimeters, which would only give you the volume.. But it won't tell you about the shape and dimensions which may be more important..
Same with the human intelligence.. It has countless dimensions, which cannot be measured just by a single number.

Self paper and pen or online IQ tests really don?t show your real IQ. Test has to be administrated by professionals to be accurate. I know in the states if English is your second language they don?t give you the standard test. I agree. Online IQ tests are the equivalent of "What Backstreet Boy are you?", "Which Disney Princess are you?", and "How horny are you?". IQ tests esp, are only as good as their reliability and validity, which I'm sure would be really, really, low for any kind of internet test. With the exception of the Mensa freaks, I can't imagine anyone even caring unless it's to place a child/teenager in a special ed program. And even then, it's sketchy.Originally posted by SureFire
