HELP - How much information can you get with an IP address?

    Hey guys,

I want to find out who someone is on my forum being an idiot and I think it's someone that knows me, and actually they have the same ISP as I do so I know it can't be that far I was wondering if there actually is a way to get more info from the IP adress and the IP Info (that huge letter and number thingy with the ISP name in it) Thanks for your help, I really want to get this idiot off my site, he is harassing me in person and now on my site..

    thanks guys!

If you want more information just call the ISP and explain whats happening.

Thanks so much guys, I guess sometimes it's kinda scary especially when he's throwing my personal details out there for all to see... he needs to be dealt with, trying to decide to go to the cops..or get some people to mess him up..

Sorry to hear that. You can at least try to block his IP.

btw.... wonder how many cases like this, we will hear about after 23rd June?

I am getting the IP blocked for sure! Thanks for the compassion babes, I guess you gotta roll with it when your in the biz, but I was actually thinking the same thing.. I'm scared.. who will actually need my (as a model) information (as an example) who will need to have models ID on file? This is insane, there are many great people in the world, but many not so great ones as well unfortunately, and I always have to be on guard but it is potentially going to get really scary for me and all others out there from what I understand..

take his IP address, download your server log and do a search for it in your logs and see what username is associated with the IP address then remove that username from your password file.
that would be the very first thing I would do - then keep an eye out for the fool signing back up again.

Find out if the ip address was ever a member (server logs or if you have pennywize it tells you every username and all the ip address that log in using that account). Search your CCBill/Paycom member database for that username - and bingo you have their name and billing address...

                Good luck.

                    Great idea
Sounds like you had to do something similar before?

I was going to suggest a trace route and calling up the ISP.

so if I'd call an ISP and it would be a static ip... would they tell me anything at all (if I tell them a reasonable story) - and if - what?

.. and if they actually give up any of this persons info over the phone to you, promptly cancel your own account with them. A t least.. I would.
