I had one vicious piece of fuckware on my puter tonight.

It kept trying to open notepad and windows media player. It also changed my homepage to some cyrillic search engine. I did ad aware and rebooted and everything ad aware found was back. Endless cycle. I used an erase utility and it was back. It was grinding system resources trying to open notepad and wmp after I had disabled them.

Finally did an XP system restore to 2 days ago and everything seems ok. Whatever the fuck that was, it was WICKED

I had one that was redirecting everything I did in IE. It would send me to some search page.

Tried adaware, and it did not find anything. ran spybot, and it fond a ton of stuff, but did not nail that one. Even a restore did nothing.

Finally had to throw in the system disk.

Everytime I log on I get a message that says

"I could remove your antivirus program but that is not the case"

        Nothing takes care of it.

I had so many problems and all the free ad removal tools found only so many! Finally broke down and bought this: Spy Sweeper It will find %95 if not more of the stuff and get rid of it. Plus it lets you know if someone is fucking with your system settings, homepage, favorites, install, and more. This is well worth the money!

Get yourself a good firewall front box, and on top of that, add something like norton 2004 - Anything gets past those two firewalls is good enough to screw your puter - So far, nothing through mine.

sometimes when clearing out a HD infected with adware, you have to hook the HD to a different computer as a slave and then do the virus/adware scan. crazy shit
