Again I agree with Pathfinder: the US has no interest in conquering anyone in the traditional way. It's just an economic imperial power, tweaked when deemed necessary by the use of force.

pr0's point speaks to this: we DON'T WANT the other places. Do we want Puerto Rico as a state? Hell no, because we'd have to pay for it.
