Who uses a Xeon as a Workstation?

I'm thinking about buying a Dell Precision 670 with a 3.2 Ghz Dual Xeon to use it as a Workstation.

Normally, Xeons are only used in Servers. Is anybody on GFY using it as a workstation as well? Are you happy with it (long-term experience)? Do you think it's worth the extra money?

Work has me on a dual pentium 2ghz xeon (500 megs ram) for the past couple of years as my workstation - it's pretty fast and stable. However, my single pentium HT machine (1 gig ram) at home seems to work just as well. In my opinion, I don't think it would be worth the money.

    Your post count means nothing.

I have 3 Dual Xeon Workstations, 2 compaq w8000's and 1 hp xw8000 We use them for running avid editing suites on them. If your running video editing work you need the xeon's they just make life easier and render much faster

We recently picked up a Dual Xeon. Waiting to render out some stuff on it, seems to be pretty quick and stable...

More use of it will tell.... But I think it all depends on how many apps you plan on running... couldn't hurt if you can afford it.
