That shit will be quickly struck down by the supreme court as a violation of the restiction that states may not interfere with interstate trade............so that, instead, the federal government may further bloat itself with internet taxes.

Kernel I would agree with you, you're right technically but states are always fucking around with interstate and international trade.

Here's a prime example of something most Americans don't know:

You're not supposed to pay for a driver's license and registration.

That's right! It's in our Constitutional laws. Yet every state you have to have a driver's license and car registration.

We're not supposed to be charged for travelling especially interstate etc. yet if you don't have a license or registration your shit gets impounded and you can go to the joint.

What the Constitution says is one thing, what the Supreme Court decides is another. It's all based on what's the short term and long term good for the Republic.

Net taxes will suck if they are allowed to become law.

Since Oregon is one of 3 states with no sales tax at all I don't think it will happen here.

If you ship / sale products and need a drop shipper - please let me know. We ship for a ton of companies online and have great customer service and fast shipping - Via USPS, UPS, and Fedex.

              Thanks

that sucks, but all other businesses pay taxes on goods sold, so it's somewhat logical that one day internet sales will be taxed too....

I don't think charging sales taxes on internet purchases is a bad thing. You should pay sales taxes based on where you live.

Otherwise an internet merchant has an unfair advantage over the local businesses that not only collect sales taxes, but also pay property taxes, income taxes, and corporate taxes in the communities they serve.

When you talk about "internet taxes" you should be talking about taxing dot com owners a "property tax" on the value of their domains or adding a VAT tax to anything sold online....those would be bad things that would hurt ecommerce.

Shopping online shouldn't be taxed in and of itself, however it shouldn't be a way to avoid paying taxes altogether.

                        sig too big

Did any of you bother to actually read the atricle Greg B, who loves to stir up shit, is talking about. This is once again another atempt at making a post that will lead you to believe something by simply leaving out a few of the ACTUAL DETAILS!

IT IS ABOUT SALES TAX MORONS! It has not one thing to do with putting a tax on the internet or use there of as Greg B is trying to have you all think. It is simply about putting a state SALES TAX on goods purchased over the internet just as you already have on catalog, phone, and mail order purchases. If the company you are making the purchase from has a storefront or office in your state then you would have to pay a SALES TAX! I am beginning to think all of the unemployed CBS and NEWSWEEK writers must have chosen GFY as their place to spread their BS around because you people sure do buy into anything you see no matter how true or credible the story is.

Oh, and by the way, before you go thinking just because I only have a small number of posts under my belt with this name don't go thinking I am not a regular around here. I just think it is wise to have an alias when pointing out the foolish tings being said on here for what they really are to avoid any unnecessary fall back in the future.

Who the fuck are you to come in here and call people 'morons' ??? What laboratory threw you out with the umbilical chords and lipo fat residue?

We know what's in the article because we can READ unlike throwbacks like you who are still trying to figure out where to put the wildebeast pictogram next to the spear carrying cuniforms.

Maybe if you washed your ass more often the smell of your own shit wouldn't have overwhelmed your cognitive functions and caused you to barge in here insulting people.

I didn't know Rush Limbaugh had flunky grade B movie henchmen running around on GFY.

If I go to Rush's website I'll see a pic of you with " Henchman #2 " on your black leotards with a caption underneath saying " D-uh right Boss! ".

Eat shit and die twice removed instead of insulting people like you sit on some throne of social intelligence or something.

That's why the system is being created, so you don't have to do that. Congress would have done this a long time ago but they simply could not come up with a way to collect the taxes and spit them up since states have different sales tax rates and there is no way for businesses to comply with that in a reasonable manner. If this system works look for Congress to make internet sales taxes mandatory.

Sometimes this country can drive a guy up the wall with it's various rule and regulations and divisions. Reminds me of a Dr. Seuss book or something out of a Jonathan Swift tome.

                                      Rob, of course they do

When you consider the power of the 'net and how it has re-arranged the entire global lifestyle, industry and economy you're going to get people looking to get whatever they can out of it.

We have trade, interstate, international procedures, taxes, tariffs etc. The web was unexpected by the starched shirts and now they're just catching up. It's how they catch up is going to separate the chaff from the wheat.

Just imagine how much dough the web and computers have generated! It's almost unfathomable.
