100 @ 20. You wouldnt have to deal with so many complaint emails, cancel emails, and tech support requests. Plus, if you had a site with a lot of content, you'd save a lot on bandwidth.
more hassles with support but a better chance of them retaining past the first month and upselling possibilities to
you also get an addition 900 emails to spam instead of the 100 ;)
maximize on everything when running a paysite its not just about the initial $ you get but about the long term revenue each member can generate even after they have LEFT the paysite
the hun gets revenue from pre-paid gallery placements on the top 15 spaces and banners.
the rest of thegalleries are free placements.
makes your content look cheap if it's 2 bucks..just raised our conversions to 35 bucks and still the same numbers..should have done it a year ago.
If people are paying more they think they are in on something good

zactly...
contractors or in-house/telecommuter employees should be enough of a force to generate a bungload of those 2 buck signups...
you know what your top 5-10% of affiliates are doing to bring you those signups right now right?
replicate that inhouse or via salaried contractors with bonus for production...bla bla bla

i wouldnt sell a membership for $2.
even cigs cost more these days!
but seriously depends on the product.
some of these cheap bastards
wont even break out the card for $2.
but then thousands will pay $40
for the right site.
so i dont think the price matters
its all about the content..

some say that and believe it, I'm of the thought that content is secondary to marketing/traffic...
remember all of the ARS cookie cutter sites? did you see the inside of those and 1000s of other programs with very 'mediocre' members areas?
I think Marc De's garage full of fine rides & casa speak volumes of what has worked...push it and push it hard, when you you see a good wave, ride the fuck out of it...
and when it crashes, get off...
right now the cheap signups seem to be a lil wave to catch, if I were Steve I'd fucking jump all over that shit...affiliates or not....
ask Quiet how the generation of traffic inhouse worked out for him and his sub-20 dollar signup paysite went, I'm guessing he might say it did 'ok'
PS: content does matter, don't get me wrong, one of the reasons those cookie cutter sites are gone is that lil marketing ploy to just 'get them in the door' quit working so well as far as the processors were concerned....

true, even a shitty site will have nice sales if it gets a 100k visitors. but a good site with a 100k visitors will have a shitload more!
Whoever was the brightlight who came up with the idea if its cheap they wont charge back. I worked for a small site that rebilled at $4.99 we got cb's all the time. Lucky for my boss it was in the old days when you could fight them. Also what makes you think a person whose main motivation for joining a site is its cheap is going to be a source of upsells. I can see the writing on the wall , we cant get anymore sales being creative and offering quality so now we will go the cheap game.
Also at $2 a month I dont see a affiliate program.
I think thats why Mom pops having more holding power than corporate porn, the customer can feel a real connection to the girl. So there isnt a need to go cheap.

Yeah but what quiet dosent know is that he could be making WAY more if he charged $35/month
1000 people buying porn today, will or may in the future like to buy some soap from you as well ;)
esp since you now have their info...
sending shitloads of signups to other people's programs, for them to gather that information and benefit from it later is one of the primary mistakes people make when they choose to be an 'affiliate' versus a site owner...

What he said. Without detail on the members area it's impossible to give any type of educated or realistic answer. The vast majority of those shouting 2000 members are the ones with no clue on the costs involved in running a GOOD members area.
