Does it cause loss of interest in sex? I just started taking it, and turned down TWO booty calls today.....I had absolutley no interest in sex what so ever! Is this normal with prozac??? If it is, what's a better suggestion to take that doesn't cause this??? Thanks!

I probably should be on some form on medication with all the worrying and paranoia I have. I need a referral to a psychologist to talk out my problems at least I can admit it. I got problems, I worry too much for my own good. I just havent made that key appoinment yet.Comment

I took it for migraines - it made me depressed. Dr. said that's a reaction for a small percentage of people. So no, I had no interest in sex - I was too depressed, lol! But I stopped taking it after 10 days when I realized what it was doing to me.
The Dr. just put me on something (Levpro maybe? Too lazy to go downstairs and find out) for "situational depression". 3 weeks and it hasn't done shit, but I don't think my "situation" is something a pill is going to help. It hasn't affected my sex drive though so I'll get the name if you want it

I was on Prozac and it had the same effect.....
Im now on Venlafaxine and although Im not my usual self sexually Im not as bad as with the Prozac.
Venlafaxine is great stuff, but dont bother unless you plan to use it long term. Its an absolute bastard to stop taking. I tried a few years back in NZ and ended up on a psyc unit for 6 weeks. Im pretty much on it for the rest of my life.Comment

...reading htis thread i was gonna say bummer for the person on seroxat. I came off that and went loopy for about 6 months. It's well documented for causing problems such as non suicidal people topping themselves after starting taking it. Probably bad doctors advice. Any SSRI you need to take for at least 3 weeks before you will notice any affects and at least 6 months for it to work properly. They're not a quick fix. One of which is general decline in sex drive. In my case I didn't get horny so easily, or come as quickly, and sometimes couldn't keep it up despite being hard at it.
On Venlafaxine now, seems to be better. One of the newer SSRI's so a bit more "advanced" i believe. Bummer to hear that damian2001 went nuts on that. Bit aprehensive about coming off it, if ever.... But sex drive is certainly ok, probably not at pre-antidepressant days, but that was so long ago I can't remember what it was like...
Happy pills...aren't they great..
